Cats have been our beloved companions for centuries, bringing joy and comfort to countless households. However, for some individuals, their interaction with these graceful creatures can lead to unpleasant allergic reactions. Understanding the reasons behind cat allergies is essential for both cat enthusiasts and allergy sufferers alike. The Culprit: Cat Allergens

The primary cause of allergies to cats lies in specific proteins found in their saliva, skin, and urine. These allergenic proteins are commonly referred to as “cat allergens.” The most prevalent cat allergen is known as Fel d 1, which triggers allergic responses in approximately 80% of cat allergy sufferers. When cats groom themselves, they transfer these proteins onto their fur, and as a result, they become airborne as tiny particles or get left on surfaces around the house.
