Thyroid issues can affect cats, just as they do humans. These conditions, specifically hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism, can significantly impact a cat’s overall health and well-being. In this article, we delve into the world of feline thyroid problems, exploring their symptoms, diagnosis, and available treatments to help cat owners better understand and manage these conditions.

1. Hyperthyroidism: Overactive Thyroid Gland

Hyperthyroidism is the most common thyroid disorder in cats. It occurs when the thyroid gland produces an excessive amount of thyroid hormone. Symptoms of hyperthyroidism may include weight loss, increased appetite, excessive thirst, restlessness, hyperactivity, vomiting, diarrhea, poor coat quality, and increased heart rate. If left untreated, hyperthyroidism can lead to serious complications affecting the heart, kidneys, and other organs.

2. Hypothyroidism: Underactive Thyroid Gland
